‘Street Fighter’ trailer: Ryu, Ken and Chun-li return to the World Warrior Tournament

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Callina Liang as Chun-Li, with the latest footage offering a much fuller look at the tournament and the film’s sprawling ensemble of fighters.Set in 1993, the film follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken, who are pulled back into combat when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. Ryu has walked away from fighting and initially refuses to return, while Ken remains determined to prove himself. Their reunion eventually draws them into a conspiracy surrounding the tournament and its mysterious organiser, M. Bison, played by David Dastmalchian.The new trailer puts considerably more emphasis on the game’s signature combat techniques. Ryu unleashes his trademark Hadouken against Ken, while Ken gets several extended fight sequences of his own. The footage also introduces Hirooki Goto’s E. Honda, who performs his famous Hundred Hand Slap, while Vidyut Jammwal’s Dhalsim is shown using the character’s trademark stretching abilities.Several other fan-favourite characters receive prominent glimpses. Jason Momoa appears as the green-skinned Blanka, Cody Rhodes plays Guile, Orville Peck plays Vega, Olivier Richters plays Zangief and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson portrays Balrog. Joe Anoa’i, better known as WWE’s Roman Reigns, plays Akuma, while Andrew Schulz appears as Dan Hibiki.The new film has had a lengthy journey to the screen. Legendary began developing the project in 2023 before Danny and Michael Philippou departed as directors. Sakurai subsequently took over, bringing his experience from projects including The Eric Andre Show and Bad Trip to a franchise built around exaggerated martial-arts spectacle.Street Fighter is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 16, 2026, with Paramount distributing the film worldwide.
