Disney will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Wars in 2027 by giving the franchise’s original 1977 film its first-ever release in 70mm IMAX. A newly restored version of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope will screen at select IMAX 70mm film locations beginning February 19th, 2027. Additionally, Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film, Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling, will also receive a 70mm IMAX release. The film is set to open on May 28th, 2027, the 50th-anniversary weekend of the original Star Wars.
