The Star Trek franchise is as vast as the universe it is set in, meaning that fans have been treated to multiple television shows, movies, and novels over the years which continues the story that was first created by Gene Roddenberry back in the 1960s. One such example is Star Trek: Enterprise, which aired from 2001 to 2005, marking the sixth television series in the franchise, and serving as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Set in the 22nd century, and over a decade before the events of The Original Series, Star Trek: Enterprise tells the story of Earth's first starship capable of traveling at warp five, aptly named The Enterprise, as its crewmates explore alien planets and their species. Now, it is set to return as early as December 2026. With fans hoping that one day they will receive a remake of this memorable era of Star Trek, especially as the series was unceremoniously canceled back in 2005 with plenty of story left to tell, it seems as though fans will have something to look forward to in just a couple of months' time. First released back in 2010, Star Trek Online offers players to step into the shoes of some of their favorite sci-fi characters in the MMORPG developed by Cryptic Studios. Set in the 25th century, the game is now celebrating the franchise's 60th anniversary and now, its developers have announced that the Terran NX Starship will arrive on PC in December 2026. Upon unveiling its roadmap for the next few months, Cryptic Studios revealed that the upcoming updates would act as celebrations of every era of the Star Trek universe, and whilst Star Trek: Enterprise ended two decades ago, its story and most importantly, the NX-01, remains one of the most iconic in the franchise's history. The only catch here is that this will not be the NX-01 commanded by Scott Bakula's Jonathan Archer. Instead, it will be from the Mirror Universe, an alternate reality where the peaceful United Federation of Planets is replaced by the ruthless Terran Empire. As such, it will take inspiration from "In a Mirror, Darkly,", Enterprise's two-part fourth-season storyline that true fans will know all too well. In this dark, alternative setting, the crew of the ISS Enterprise NX-01 have turned into ruthless versions of themselves, such as the Mirror Version of Captain Archer, as well as including the discovery of the USS Defiant, a powerful Federation starship displaced from another time and universe. As such, the addition of the NX-01 in Star Trek Online is truly for fans, with it set to celebrate a beloved storyline in Star Trek: Enterprise. If you are an example of a fan who will love this new update, you will be pleased to hear that it arrives this December on PC. However, you will have to wait a bit longer for more details, including the ship's abilities and capabilities, as well as how players will be able to commandeer it. With the Star Trek universe celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, this is just one example of the many new arrivals launching throughout the year.
