SpaceXAI releases Grok 4.6, claiming GPT-5.6 Sol and Claude Fable 5-level intelligence

SpaceXAI seems to be in the process of repairing Grok’s reputation. From the recent Cursor acquisition to yesterday’s Grok Bot agent release, the company is getting more serious about its models. Today’s Grok 4.6 release builds on that effort with what SpaceXAI says is intelligence comparable to OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol and Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5. SpaceXAI says Grok 4.6 delivers frontier intelligence at a steep discount According to SpaceXAI’s announcement, Grok 4.6 is designed for long-running agents, coding, knowledge work, and more ambitious visual projects. The company says it can stay on task across many steps, work through an unfamiliar codebase, and increasingly test its own output before moving forward. On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Grok 4.6 scored 61. That matches GPT-5.6 Sol at its maximum reasoning level and trails Fable 5 Max by one point. SpaceXAI also reports gains over Grok 4.5 across every evaluation listed, including CursorBench, FrontierCode, APEX-Agents, and Terminal-Bench. SpaceXAI says the improvement comes from a longer supplemental training run, stronger engineering data, and expanded reinforcement learning for coding and knowledge work. Grok 4.6 is available today through Cursor, Grok Build, the SpaceXAI API, OpenRouter, Vercel, and Cloudflare. API pricing starts at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. A faster version costs twice as much. Cursor and Grok Build users also receive twice the included Grok 4.6 usage during its first week.
