Snooper – “Mouth Closed”

Party-starting Nashville punks Snooper are getting ready to open Mannequin Pussy and Wednesday's Bitch Cabal tour, which ought to be a great time. Today, they drop a new single that will probably go crazy at those shows. "Mouth Closed" is a pummeling pogo jam with a merciless pep-rally drum-machine beat and some ultra-corroded scream-along vocals. It sounds like electroclash reinvented as basement punk, or maybe Sleigh Bells played at 1.5x speed.Snooper released their album Worldwide last year, and they followed it the nervous and addled single "Recess" in July. At this point, it's not clear whether "Recess" and "Mouth Closed" are standalone singles or whether they'll eventually end up on a larger project. It is clear, however, that both songs bang. Teddy Cruz (probably not that one) directed the hyperactive, low-tech "Mouth Closed" video, which has Ashley J. Dengate and Caia Cupolo performing their own gif-looking choreography.
