Serie A to be shown live for FREE on UK TV – but commentary may not be in English

BIG-NAME Premier League stars have flocked to Serie A this summer – and football fans will now have the chance to watch them in action for FREE. The BBC, which is at risk of a mass exodus from Match of the Day due to tension behind the scenes, is set to broadcast 38 clashes in the Italian top-flight when the season gets underway. It has been confirmed that 19 matches are in line to be shown on BBC Alba, including when Atalanta and Sassuolo lock horns on Sunday. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! An additional 19 games are on course to be available to stream on BBC iPlayer. Djed Spence became the latest Englishman to head to Serie A from the Premier League. The right-back, 26, joined reigning champions Inter Milan in a £30million deal from Tottenham last week. It allowed Spence to seal a quickfire reunion with England team-mate John Stones just weeks after sharing a dressing room at the World Cup. The centre-back had already arrived at the San Siro following the expiry of his Manchester City contract. Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Harry Winks are also preparing for the new Serie A season after previously featuring in the Premier League. The agreement has allowed the BBC to expand their offering of European football. The broadcasting giant already screens Bundesliga contests and uploads LaLiga clips.
