Samsung Galaxy phones add a Pixel-style dedicated Google Search bar on homescreen [Gallery]

As a part of its next major update, Samsung Galaxy phones are adding a dedicated Google Search bar on the bottom of the homescreen, just like Pixel phones. In One UI 9, live now on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, Samsung is adding a new search bar section to the homescreen. This dedicated section lives between the main app grid and the dock. By default, it’s a Google Search bar, but can also be used for Samsung’s “Finder,” or both. You can also toggle both options completely off to remove the bar, replacing it with a page indicator. While the placement is a bit different, it’s pretty similar to the dedicated search bar on Google Pixel devices. The Pixel Launcher has long had a search bar at the very bottom of the homescreen, though Samsung’s is a bit more versatile, and you do get to reclaim a sliver of real estate by turning it off entirely. As mentioned, this is live in One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 and should be coming to more Galaxy devices in the coming months as the Android 17-based update rolls out more widely.
