Umamaheswar on Thursday to strengthen security for the upcoming local body elections. The application enables the police control room to monitor the locations of officers and personnel through Google Maps, identify sensitive polling stations and coordinate the deployment of additional forces wherever necessary. Mobile patrol teams, striking forces and special striking forces can be directed to trouble spots for an immediate response. The SOS facility allows personnel to alert authorities during emergencies, while direct communication with the control room facilitates coordinated action. A single notification can simultaneously convey instructions to police officers and personnel across the district.Addressing a press conference at his camp office, Mr. Umamaheswar, along with Additional SP L. Sudhakar, demonstrated the application’s features and explained its operational benefits. The platform also provides officers’ names and contact numbers for quick communication. Notifications can reach users even when mobile internet connectivity is unavailable, he said. The district police headquarters’ IT wing will oversee the application and coordinate with field officers to facilitate information sharing, monitor security arrangements and ensure the efficient deployment of personnel. The SP said the initiative aimed to leverage technology to ensure peaceful and transparent local body elections.
