Sally is stunned when Tim delivers unexpected news on Coronation Street

As if Sal’s not been through enough… (Picture: ITV) It’s just one drama after another for poor Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) on Coronation Street. The Cobbles icon got a dose of Halloween horror recently when a mystery tormenter broke into her house on October 30th dressed as a ghost. In true final girl spirit, Sally fought back against her spooky assailant by smacking them round the head with a vase. Sally got a nasty surprise on Halloween. (Picture: ITV) Unfortunately for Sally, that masked attacker turned out to be Lucy (Anya Dewin), the troubled foster child that she and hubby Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) decided to take in. Well, Tim decided, Sally didn’t have that much choice. Because Lucy’s father Richie (Nathan Sussex) is his cousin, Tim feels a certain obligation to the girl – especially seeing as he advised Richie to go home to his wife Rachel, leading to a heated domestic dispute that ended in her murder. Needless to say, it’s not exactly been a walk in the park having Lucy under their roof. Even with Tim and Sally’s fostering experience, they’re dealing with a deeply traumatised young woman who often reacts to overwhelming situations with anger… as Sally has found out for herself. In case you thought things can’t get any worse, there’s also a more than zero percent chance that Lucy killed her mum and Richie is covering for her. Lucy was Sally’s mystery attacker. (Picture: ITV) Basically, the whole Lucy situation was a powderkeg of tension waiting to exploode. And explode it did on Halloween. After attacking her foster child, Sally was horrified and tried to apologise, not realising who it was in the dark. Instead of accepting Sally’s frantic apology, Lucy maliciously claimed the attack was a deliberate, motivated by by Sally’s resentment toward her. Before Sally knew it, social worker Ruth descended on the Metcalfe house after receiving a voicemail and a journal from Lucy filled with false accusations, claims of being mistreated, and recorded notes – all painting Sally as some kind of abusive monster. This resulted in Lucy being temporarily moved to a respite home. Meanwhile, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) – who just so happens to be Lucy’s secret biological grandmother – is not exactly happy with the situation. Poor Sally’s been left feeling under scrutiny and like the world’s worst foster-parent. Christina is not thrilled to learn Sally accidentally attacker her granddaughter. (Picture: ITV) Now just when she’s at her lowest, Sally gets some shocking news in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street. Having taken a call from social services, Tim informs Sally that she’s been cleared of any wrongdoing and Lucy will be coming back to live with them next week. Sally’s stunned. In the café, Sally confides in Christina that she’s worried about Lucy’s return. Fingers crossed that Sally’s reunion with Lucy goes better than last time!
