If your favorite green tool is broken or no longer works the way it should, don't toss it out and drop a bunch of cash on a replacement. A cheap spare part might be all you need, and you don't have to scroll through eBay to find it. Did you know Ryobi has a website where you can buy spare parts and accessories? Whether the chuck on your 18V ONE+ drill broke, the battery housing cover on your lawnmower snapped off, or you lost the blade adapter while replacing the mower blades, we have you covered. Tracking down official OEM Ryobi parts is easier and cheaper than you think. Here's how to get started. Home Depot isn't the only place to buy Ryobi Ryobi has a parts website and discount outlet stores Credit: Ryobi Whenever I'm looking for a new Ryobi tool or accessory, I typically Google it and either head to the Home Depot website or check it out on Ryobitools.com like everyone else. In the United States, when you go to the official Ryobi store to buy a tool and add it to your cart, it simply redirects you to Home Depot to complete the purchase. You can't actually buy stuff directly from Ryobi. As a result, I never really thought to look deeper, especially if I needed a replacement part. Recently, I had a part break on the head of my trusty old string trimmer and didn't know what to do. I don't want to buy a new one, either. After some Googling, I found the part number and did what most people would do—I tried finding it on Amazon or eBay. Turns out, that's the wrong move. You can actually buy Ryobi replacement parts, accessories, and even batteries directly from Ryobi. Fire up its website, scroll to the bottom, and in the menu of options, you'll see a link for "Replacement parts," which takes you to a site I never knew existed called Ryobi Power Ordertree. This is the official spare parts store for Ryobi tools. Furthermore, did you know that Ryobi's parent company, TTI, which also owns RIDGID, Milwaukee, and Hoover vacuums, runs a factory outlet store that offers blemished products or factory-refurbished tools at heavy discounts? It's called Direct Tools Factory Outlet, and they offer a website and physical retail stores throughout the United States. I've bought multiple items from the outlet store, including the 18V high-pressure inflator at a steep discount, and a refurbished whisper series fan for the garage. It's a solid place to look if you're on a budget. But back to the task at hand—finding replacement parts. Ryobi's replacement parts website is where to go All you need is a model or part number The Ryobi Power Ordertree replacement parts website is exactly what you'd expect, complete with the ability to search by part number, model number, or specific keywords, such as an 18V string trimmer head assembly. There's an online cart, a full checkout process with shipping fees, and more, albeit it's a bit bare-bones. Considering the brand makes over 400 products across its USB Lithium, 18V, 40V, and 80V platforms, that's a lot of parts and accessories to list. As a result, most items don't have photos, which certainly isn't ideal, and the parts listings aren't very detailed. Basically, you'll need to know exactly what you're looking for. But hey, at least it's an option. Ryobi's spare parts website does have photos of a few of the most common items, like a replacement battery housing top cover lid for most lawn mowers, which is a frequent repair. You'll also find things like fan adapters, mower blade adapters, trigger switches, and so much more. I think what surprised me even more is pricing. That battery cover mentioned above is only $23, and you can get specific screws, adapters, or clips for under a dollar. In my case, I needed the plastic cover for my string trimmer head assembly, where you add the string spools. Finding it was a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, Ryobi's site includes a phone number where you can speak with a real person, ensuring you get the right part. You can do it yourself by calling 1-877-634-5704. And finally, if you can't find what you're looking for, Home Depot also has a repair parts website with many more photos and details. Repair your Ryobi tool and save some money The only downside I've found so far, aside from Ryobi's bare-bones website, is the cost of shipping. I needed a pretty cheap, small, and essential part, and shipping was an extra $12. But hey, that sure beats buying an entirely new string trimmer. I've been buying Ryobi tools for over 20 years and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. And now that I know I can find official OEM replacement parts right from the source, or at Home Depot's site, I can rest easy knowing these affordable tools are repairable, too.
