Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv said the victim was a civilian security guard who had been protecting an outbuilding when fragments from a Russian drone damaged the structure. Russian forces attacked the city with a drone identified by the mayor as a Shahed. Air defense units were operating in the region as the attack unfolded, and falling debris triggered a fire. Emergency responders and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene, where firefighters worked to contain the blaze. According to local reports, air raid alerts were issued in parts of the Ivano-Frankivsk region beginning at approximately 10:41 p.m. local time. Residents reported hearing explosions around 11 p.m., and the air raid alert was lifted at approximately 11:14 p.m. Onyshchuk had earlier warned that Russian drones were attacking the region and urged residents to remain in safe locations and respond to air raid warnings. The mayor also warned of the possibility of further alerts overnight. “There is no safe city in Ukraine,” Martsinkiv said, mourning the civilian killed in the attack.
