Russell Brand cheated on his girlfriends and even his now-wife, but she insisted she now considered him an 'amazing husband,' a court heard.Laura Brand, the wife of the 51-year-old actor, took the stand in her husband's rape trial on Thursday to say he was an 'attentive husband' despite his previous infidelities. The mother-of-three described her devotion to the man she fell in love with at the age of 19, despite the then 31-year-old being unable to stay faithful to her during the early years of their relationship. In an extraordinary appearance at Southwark Crown Court, the trial had to be briefly halted after Brand's defence barrister Ian Winter, KC, attempted to ask his wife of nine years what she thought about the 'truth of the allegations' against him.The judge asked jurors to leave the court briefly following objections by Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones, KC, about the line of questioning of a character witness who had sat in the court listening to the entire trial.Earlier, the judge had to warn Mr Winter to confine his questions to relevant matters as the witness was asked how they met and married. When the case resumed, Mrs Brand was asked instead about Brand's truthfulness. Laura Brand, wife of British actor and comedian Russell Brand arrives with him at Southwark Crown CourtThe 39-year-old said: 'Russell, my husband, is caring, he is kind, he is a wonderful father to our children. I love him very much.'She went on: 'We have a very honest, frank, and clear relationship and marriage.'It is one of the most important parts of our marriage, and our relationship has always been honest.'But she admitted when they first got together it was 'difficult for him to be monogamous'.She told jurors that she was an inexperienced 19-year-old when she met the 31-year-old at one of his gigs after her TV presenter sister Kirsty Gallacher got tickets as she shared an agent with Brand.Following the show in August 2006, she approached Brand to thank him for the free tickets but he was more interested initially in her 'beautiful' friend.Mrs Brand said: 'He acknowledged my friend, who is very beautiful, and said to my friend, "Have you got a boyfriend?"'She said "yes, I do", and then he looked at me and said, "Tell me you don't have a boyfriend".'I said "No, I don't". I did give him my phone number.'As they began dating, she said Brand was 'totally caring', and let the relationship progress 'totally at my pace'.Mrs Brand, who is the daughter of Scottish golfer and former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, said: 'I was not experienced, I had only had one partner before Russell.'I felt entirely cared for and looked after by Russell.'They lived together for 15 months.
