The Romanian Defense Ministry reported the discovery of drone fragments in the village of Plauru, Tulcea County, near the border with Ukraine, on Friday evening, Aug. 14. Military specialists arrived at the site to identify the object and secure the area, according to the ministry’s press service. Earlier on Friday, the Defense Ministry reported a drone crash near Luncavița, Tulcea County, approximately five kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Drone wreckage was also located on the beach at the Saturn resort. Furthermore, on the morning of Aug. 14, a fragment of an unidentified drone was found on the beach at the Costinești resort. Authorities indicated this fragment may be connected to a drone spotted in the water at that location the previous day. Drones destroyed near Neptun Deep project On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Romanian military divers conducted controlled explosions to destroy two drifting Gerbera-type drones in the Black Sea, approximately 167 kilometers east of Constanța. The objects were located near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project. A civilian vessel operating in the area reported the objects to authorities. Acting Defense Minister Radu Miruță stated that Ukrainian officials confirmed the systems did not belong to their armed forces. The Gerbera is a Russian-produced platform. The drones were destroyed due to the hazard they presented to maritime traffic and energy operations in the area.
