Rivals expert Greg Biggins scouting report of four-star Buckeyes DL pledge Karlos May

COLUMBUS — Ohio State added to the best defensive line class in the country for the class of 2027 on Saturday, landing a pledge from four-star Birmingham (Alabama) Ramsay defensive tackle Karlos May. May chose the Buckeyes over Georgia and Auburn, going into the state of Alabama and earning a commitment from one of the South’s best interior defensive line prospects. At 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, May gives Ohio State a true future anchor of the defensive line. He’s the No. 73 overall player in the country according to Rivals. He ranks as the country’s No. 7 defensive tackle, and he’s the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama. Rivals’ national scouting expert Greg Biggins provided the updated scouting report for May in April. Here’s what he had to say about the Buckeyes’ newest addition to the country’s No. 6 recruiting class: “We used the term, ‘grown man strength’ to describe May’s play style,” Biggins said. “Missed his sophomore year due to an injury but emerged as a junior with 43 tackles, eight for loss and four sacks. Eats up double teams and has the raw power to stand his ground and still get a push. A true nose at 6-foot-2, 330 pounds but is more than just a plugger, shows some quickness and can really close on the ball for a player his size. “Has one of the best get-off’s among all interior defensive linemen and should develop in to a solid pass rusher as he adds a more counters to the tool kit. Has a strong track profile and qualified for the state championships in the shot put and discuss. A pretty exciting prospect and there’s a lot to like here with his rare combination or size, burst and power.” Further, May reminds Greg Biggins of Siaki Ika, a former four-star prospect who played two seasons at LSU before transferring to Baylor and becoming a third-round NFL Draft selection. Ohio State believes May can be a star for the defensive line in the future. Karlos May now joins the Ohio State defensive line haul in the 2027 class — the best defensive line class in the country. The Buckeyes now have pledges from five-star EDGE David Jacobs, five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou four-star EDGE Wyatt Smith and now May.
