Resident Evil Legend Leon Kennedy Officially Returns October 16

He's played games all his life and turned that passionate hobby into a passionate career, in an industry where he's worked as a writer, editor, analyst, and more. Resident Evil’s very own Leon Kennedy is making an official return on October 16, and fans of Capcom’s survival horror series may want to mark their calendars so that they don’t miss it. The franchise, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is still going strong. In fact, the new Resident Evil live-action movie is already considered the best ever made, opening up new avenues for fans to enjoy the series. While no new video game sequel has been announced just yet, we will get a new release in a couple of days. On October 16, a new Resident Evil launch will become available. As reported by Game Rant, Capcom will release the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 on Nintendo Switch 2. This includes the aforementioned base games, as well as the DLC released for the titles. October 16 will mark the release of the digital editions of these games, though the physical editions are expected to arrive in late January 2027. This marks the return of Leon Kennedy, one of the main characters in the series. The iconic protagonist does not star in Resident Evil 3 with Jill Valentine. However, Leon is one of the two protagonists in Resident Evil 2 alongside Claire Redfield, as well as the main character in Resident Evil 4, with Ashley Graham. If you haven’t had enough of him in Resident Evil Requiem, revisiting these titles on Nintendo Switch 2 may be a great way of dealing with that. "Every game that makes it to the finish line is a miracle," we said in our 8/10 review of Resident Evil 4. "Game creation is hard, and outside forces like budgets, deadlines, and publisher wishes will always impact what is and isn't included in a final product. Resident Evil 4, both the remake and the original, are no different, and the RE4 remake is in no ways a bad game. Some of the changes are quite good, and some moments act as both perfect gags for returning fans and surprising jolts for new players - as anyone who climbed the demo's bell tower has already seen - but it is less than what it attempts to ape." The release of the Resident Evil ports for Nintendo Switch 2 is pretty huge. Not only are these remakes of some of the most popular entries in the series, but they are now also arriving on hardware they were previously unavailable on, reaching a brand-new audience. On top of all that, they come in their complete form. As was mentioned, the previously released DLC for each is included. This means that the extra content for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 is all part of the package. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 4 will come with the amazing Separate Ways story DLC. Based on the gameplay footage showcased by Capcom as part of the promotional material for these games, they will run smoothly on the Nintendo Switch 2. Even if you aren’t a huge Leon Kennedy fan, these new releases will give you the chance to experience some of the finest survival horror experiences, now on the hybrid Nintendo hardware. It may also be a great way of keeping Resident Evil fans occupied until the arrival of Resident Evil: Veronica.
