Apple TV Officially Decides the Fate of Its Hit New Thriller

Image via Apple TV Published Oct 14, 2026, 3:41 PM EDT A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation." An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account. Series like Ted Lasso, Severance, and Widow's Bay have broken into the larger zeitgeist to become bonafide hits. Now, the streamer has decided the fate of one of its newer offerings, a thriller that seemed to offer up a new twist in every episode. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed stars Tatiana Maslany as Paula Sanders, a divorced fact-checker who's turned to internet sex workers for solace. Unfortunately, those dalliances soon turn her life upside down when she gets entangled in a blackmail scheme that threatens to destroy her life. Making matters worse, she gets embroiled in a custody battle with her ex-husband, Karl (Jake Johnson) and his new wife, Mallory (Jessy Hodges), who want to move to Idaho and take Karl and Paula's daughter, Hazel (Nola Wallace) with them. Now, a second season of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed has been guaranteed. The series has been renewed by Apple TV, three months after the show's finale ended on a shocking cliffhanger. Says showrunner David J. Rosen, "We are delighted to continue the story of MPG and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew. This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email." The series was a hit with critics, earning a 93% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In her review, Collider's Emily Bernard praised the series as "a solid, addictive addition to the streamer." Season 2 of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is in development; no release date has yet been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
