Putin unleashes deadly ballistic missile bombardment as child among three dead just hours after Ukraine stadium blitzed

A CHILD is among at least three people who have been killed after Vladimir Putin unleashed another deadly missile barrage near Kyiv. It came just hours after the dictator blitzed one of Ukraine‘s largest sports stadiums on the eve of a top-flight match. Russian forces pummelled the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday night, launching 28 missiles in a 20-minute nightmare that became one of the deadliest onslaughts this year. Houses and cars were damaged by falling debris and a non-residential building was set ablaze, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration. Shocking pictures from the heart of the action show firefighters tackling infernos cropping up across the city. Witnesses reported hearing dozens of explosions and several air raid alerts amid the onslaught. Kyiv has been desperate to rebuild its stock of missile interceptors. The Ukrainian Air Force was not able to destroy a single incoming Iskander-M ballistic missile overnight. President Volodymyr Zelensky has meanwhile landed in the Serbian capital Belgrade to try to forge greater economic and security ties with President Aleksandar Vučić. Despite the Ukrainian leader pushing to build wider support for Ukraine, Vučić has refused to apply sanctions to Russia. Earlier this week, Zelensky mourned the “horrific casualties and destruction” caused by Putin’s last barrage. He added that having stronger interceptor capability “could have saved lives”. Ukraine’s supply of interceptors from allies has been “significantly reduced” this year, but Zelensky will be hopeful of getting a Patriot production license from the US. Kyiv launched its own strikes overnight, hitting two oil depots deep inside Russia as well as Moscow-linked shadow ships in the Black Sea. Zelensky has ruthlessly targeted Russian oil refineries this year, plunging the country into a fuel crisis. Attempts to reach a peace deal have stalled of late, leading to an escalation in attacks.
