According to reports, Castro was playing for Real Sport Clube against Estrela da Amadora when the incident happened. Castro was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. “To the family, friends, and the affiliated club (Real Sports Clube), we extend our deepest condolences during this tragic time for Portugese football,” The Lisbon Football Association posted on Facebook. “Estrela da Amadora hereby express their deepest sorrow for the passing of Quevin Castro, player for Real Massama (Real Sport Clube),” the statement read. “At this moment of profound sadness, Estrela da Amadora extend their most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Quevin Castro, as well to the entire Real Massama structure. “Our thoughts are with all those close to him. Rest in peace, Quevin.”West Brom also issued a statement following his death, according to US Weekly.“West Brom are devastated to learn of the untimely passing for Quevin Castro, aged just 25,” it read. “Albion will pay tribute to Quevin on Sunday, with a period of applause in the 25th minute of the fixture against Burnley. Jams Morrison’s men will also wear black armbands.“The thoughts of everyone at Albion are with Quevin’s loved ones at this desperately sad time.”Real Sports Clube also shared a statement following Castro’s death.“Quevin Castro was far more than a player, he was a member of our family, leaving a mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing him, both on and off the pitch,” it read. “At this time of grief, Real Sports Clube — Futebol, SAD extends its most sincere condolences to the family and all friends of Quevin Castro, expressing its full solidarity and unconditional support.
