The issue affects wired and wireless Android Auto; reinstalling or clearing the cache doesn't seem help. Google hasn't confirmed a fix yet, though past quick responses suggest a patch may arrive soon. The Android Auto issue drama is back once again. A few weeks ago, Google Maps' speedometer disappeared, and then signal bars stopped showing properly. Now, a new issue has popped up that seems to be affecting Google's Pixel 11 series (via Android Authority). According to several posts from Pixel 11 owners on Reddit and Android Auto's official support community, Google Maps is freezing, flickering, and displaying strange graphical glitches when running in Android Auto. In some cases, "pixelated black static" appears where Google Maps should be, while other apps continue to run normally. According to Reddit posts, the problems seem to be the same across wired and wireless Android Auto. Uninstalling the app and clearing its cache doesn't seem to solve the issue, unfortunately. It's unclear when a fix will arrive This is just the latest in a string of Android Auto-related issues It's unclear what's causing the problem or whether Google is aware of it. The tech giant has responded quickly to previous Android Auto issues, though in some cases its updates didn't really fix the problems. That said, we'll likely hear something from Google soon. In one case, an Android Auto user says keeping their device unlocked makes Android Auto run smoothly, while others report no issues at all. In early June, an Android Google Play Services update included "Bug fixes for Device Connection related service" aimed at solving the issue on Pixel and Samsung devices. However, a quick look at XDA's comment section on that story reveals mixed results (it seems to have worked for some, though). Then in early July, another update dropped with similarly mixed results. For what it's worth, I haven't run into this issue yet, though I use Waze far more frequently than Google Maps. Have you run into this Google Maps issue with Android Auto?
