Pinarayi Vijayan slams ‘fabricated’ reports on police vehicle outside his house in Kannur

Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has dismissed reports that a police station was operating from a non-functional police vehicle parked outside his residence at Pinarayi in Kannur district and termed the reports as a deliberate attempt to personally humiliate him.In a social media post on Thursday (September 3, 2026), Mr. Vijayan clarified that the deployment of the police vehicle near his residence [when he was Chief Minister] was part of the Police department’s official security arrangements. He pointed out that police outpost personnel were routinely deployed outside Ministers’ residences as part of standard security procedures.He said no police station had ever been established in front of his house. According to him, police personnel used to arrive and leave in a police vehicle as part of the usual security arrangements. The vehicle later became non-functional and remained parked there.Mr. Vijayan said the police had told him at the time that the vehicle would be removed, repaired and put back into service. However, even three months after he demitted office, the vehicle had not been removed. He said the police should explain why it remained there.He also said that he had never requested security to be provided to his residence.Mr. Vijayan further criticised the media report, alleging that the report was constructed with the intention of creating a wrong impression.
