Over 3,600 students receive degrees at third convocation of Mohan Babu University

POORNACHANDRA KUMAR Over 3,600 students received their degrees at the third convocation of Mohan Babu University (MBU) in Tirupati on Saturday. Honorary doctorates were conferred on Rajeev Shukla, former Union Minister and sports administrator from Delhi, and Padma Shri awardee Paresh Maity, noted watercolour artist from West Bengal.A.C. Shanmugam, Founder Chancellor of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, was the chief guest, while Anuradha Prasad, Chairperson and Managing Director of B.A.G. Films and Media Pvt. Ltd., was the guest of honour. MBU Chancellor and actor M. Mohan Babu presided over the convocation.Addressing the students, Mr. Mohan Babu said that since the institution began as an engineering college and later evolved into a university, more than 25,000 students had studied there and gone on to hold prominent positions in society, including as Collectors, government officials and political leaders.“Education attains true fulfilment only when accompanied by discipline, courtesy and honesty,” he said.MBU Pro-Chancellor Manchu Vishnu said the students’ “true journey” would begin after receiving their degrees and urged them to be prepared to face challenges in society and emerge victorious.“Never forget the four guiding principles — Mother, Father, Teacher and God — regardless of the heights you attain.
