WITH seemingly endless pots of cash, cameras constantly shoved in their faces and clinics knocking on their doors offering free or discounted tweakments in exchange for social media promos, the appeal of surgery and fillers is easy to see. But some of our favourite stars have admitted they massively regret going under the knife or the needle, in eye-opening convos about their “grotesque”, “horrendous” and “freakish” results. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! But the 35-year-old harbours regrets from her own youth – chiefly a £3,000 boob job she got aged 20, pre finding Love Island fame in 2017. Olivia eventually reduced her 32E “watermelons” at 27, but is now scarred for life. Speaking to The Times this month, she described her lip filler as “grotesque” and said she had it dissolved. “I’ve learnt not to treat your body like a wardrobe change. Social media documents changes in women’s physiques as if it’s as simple as changing a dress, and it’s just not,” she added. But the experiences haven’t completely put her off cosmetic enhancements. Having previously said she’d get a facelift at 70, she now admits it will “probably be sooner”. “Facelift culture’s shifted from something associated with women in their 60s, who’d come out looking as if they’d been in a wind tunnel, to modern facelifting that’s done very conservatively, with a very skilled eye. Most read in Fabulous “There’s all this ‘have-they-haven’t-they?’ speculation around these women in their early 40s when they come out looking ten years younger overnight,” she added. Molly-Mae Hague These days, she’s a fresh-faced, Adidas wearing mum-of-two, so sometimes it’s hard to remember Molly-Mae’s love of filler, false lashes and hair extensions on her Love Island days. I was mortified. “The reality was that my once-sharp jawline had jowls hanging underneath, my lips felt lumpy, uneven and unnatural.” The now 27-year-old added: “I didn’t feel prettier. I didn’t feel better. Filler had made me feel worse.” Molly-Mae later said she looked “five years younger” after having her fillers dissolved. Amy Childs The Only Way is Essex helped popularise big boobs and plump lips in British culture, but OG cast member Amy Childs now says she regrets “everything”. She had another at the age of 23, boosting them to a 30EE. Amy told This Morning she had been “addicted” to surgery, adding: “I look back on TOWIE, and I’m not saying I’m beautiful but I was really attractive and the only thing I’d had done then, I just had my boobs done when I was 18. “I had no Botox then, I had no filler, nothing. When I was thinking about surgery, I wish there was someone in the public eye who’d had what I’ve had that had regrets.” Amy previously told Fabulous how fillers made her look “old” and admitted she’d been hospitalised for a ruptured implant. The reality star and mum-of-four called for surgery to be banned for under 25s. Lauren Goodger Having shot to fame on TOWIE in 2010, and gone through a high-profile split from Mark Wright, now married to Michelle Keegan, Lauren fell into a cosmetic trap. I hate my fake boobs and bum now. I feel like my body looks abnormal. I don’t need these massive boobs and massive bum,” the 39-year-old told The Mirror last year. “When I look at myself naked in the mirror, all I see are lumps and bumps everywhere.” Always open about her various enhancements, Lauren had a nose job in 2011, a boob job in 2023 and a Brazilian butt lift, in Turkey, in 2017. Six years later, Lauren revealed her regrets about the BBL. She said: “I’m not sure if there is a procedure that can reverse the BBL. I’m looking into potentially getting the fat sucked out, but I don’t know if that’s an option. I’m going to speak to lots of different surgeons and figure out my options.” She went on to call the BBL “the worst experience” of her life, and revealed her desire for a more natural figure. Simon Cowell Simon Cowell, pictured in 2021, says he went ‘too far’ and struggled to recognise himself Credit: Getty Proving it’s not just reality stars, or women, who fall foul to the lure of cosmetic work, Simon Cowell, now 66, admitted injectables left him looking “like something out a horror film”, in a 2022 interview with The Sun. The X Factor mogul said: “There was a stage where I might have gone a bit too far. I saw a picture of me from ‘before’ the other day, and didn’t recognise it as me first of all.” Speaking on his 12-year-old son’s reaction to his cosmetic work, he said: “Eric was in hysterics. Enough was enough. There is no filler in my face at all now. Zero. “There was a phase where everyone was having their faces pumped full of this and the other. “But actually, for me now, a lot of it comes down to healthy eating and drinking tonnes of water.” Lateysha Grace Lateysha Grace, pictured in 2020, has had six BBLs Credit: Getty She now wants to get them reversed, and wishes she could tell her younger self never to go under the knife Credit: Getty After finding fame on MTV reality show The Valleys at the age of 19, Lateysha went onto have six BBLs. “I was constantly chasing perfection, but perfection doesn’t exist,” Grace told Olivia Attwood on the new series of her show. “It’s actually so sad that I’ve had to put my body through that because of reckless decisions I made when I was younger. “I wish to God now that I could go back and just speak to myself as an 18-year-old and be like ‘you were perfect, just stay as you are.’ ” Lateysha’s bottom went viral in 2016 when her dress burst open, after host Rylan Clarke asked her to twerk on Brother’s Bit on the Side. In October, the 33-year-old hit back at “vile” body-shaming abuse she’d received on Instagram. “Lately, I’ve had horrible comments online about my body, and sometimes they do really get to me,” she wrote. “Social media can be such a toxic place. It just shocks me how men who know nothing about me can openly tear down a mum’s body. “A body that’s grown life, carried a baby, and gone through postpartum. The lack of compassion is just disgusting. I won’t pretend it doesn’t hurt because it does. I’ve learned to take that negativity and turn it into fuel.” She is now going through the process of reversing her BBLs. Chloe Ferry Chloe Ferry has spent more than £50,000 on surgery over the years, and now wishes she’d never touched it. I got surgery because I was insecure and felt ugly. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have done it.” The 30-year-old added: “Surgery is a dark hole. You always want more – but what is perfection? It doesn’t exist. “I was trying so hard to make people like me and stop the nasty comments, but I lost myself along the way. I’ve wasted my 20s chasing some girl I wasn’t born to be.” At her lowest, Chloe was left feeling suicidal over her insecurities about her looks. Her cosmetic work includes two nose jobs, liposuction, filler and a breast augmentation. Bella Hadid After years of speculation, Bella, who grew up in the limelight on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, admitted she had a nose job at 14 – but wishes she hadn’t. I think I would have grown into it,’ she told Teen Vogue in 2022. The 29-year-old model also hit back at internet trolls and insisted she hadn’t had more surgery. “People think I fully f***ed with my face because of one picture of me as a teenager looking puffy. “I’m pretty sure you don’t look the same now as you did at 13, right? I have never used filler. Let’s just put an end to that. I have no issue with it, but it’s not for me.” Courteney Cox Courteney Cox, pictured in 2015, described getting filler as her ‘biggest regret’ Credit: Getty Images – Getty Pictured after scaling back, she said ‘thank God they’re removable’ Credit: Getty Friends actress Courteney, 62, described fillers as her “biggest regret” on the Gloss Angeles podcast in 2023. “It’s a domino effect,” she said. “You don’t realise that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more, ‘cause you look normal to yourself. “You look in the mirror and go, ‘That looks good.’ You think, and you don’t realise, what it looks like to the outside person.” “Thank God they’re removable,” she added. Heidi Montag Heidi Montag was fresh-faced when she first joined The Hills Credit: Getty She then had a mammoth, and dangerous, 10 operations in one day Credit: Getty Heidi famously had 10 surgeries within 24 hours, a dangerous move that she lived to regret. “Spencer thought he lost me,” Heidi told Paper magazine in 2018. “I died for a minute. With that much surgery, I had to have 24-hour nurse care and Spencer didn’t want to leave my side… “My security guards called Spencer and told him, ‘Heidi’s heart stopped. She’s not going to make it.’ And I easily could’ve.” Heidi, now 39, now says she’d never risk her life for “vanity” again. Pictured earlier this year, she said she’d never put her life at risk for ‘vanity’ again Credit: Getty Heidi had a brow lift, chin reduction, breast augmentation, liposuction and Botox injections. She was just 23 years old. Her mum, Darlene Egelhoff, was horrified by the results, which Heidi unveiled on The Hills in 2009. “She was looking at me almost like a zoo animal. It wasn’t like I was her daughter anymore. She was looking at me like I was a circus freak,” Heidi later told People. “I never thought in my wildest dreams she was going to react the way she did.” Comment now
