Oh Hell Yes, We’re Getting A Lego City Builder Game

During today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event, a game I’ve always wanted was revealed with a brief trailer. Folks, someone is finally making a Lego city builder. On Tuesday, Paradox Interactive announced Lego Skylines, a previously leaked and rumored city builder featuring those tiny plastic bricks so many people, myself included, love so much. Here’s the new Lego Skylines trailer: Here’s the official description of this game that I wish we got to see a lot more of instead of this short teaser trailer: Build a city where everything just clicks in LEGO® Skylines. In this cozy, customizable city-builder, your choices bring a living, breathing metropolis to life. Go big or obsess over the details. No instructions. Unlimited space. And there’s just one rule. Make it yours. The idea of a Lego city-builder video game is basically catnip for me. I love Lego. I love spending many hours laying out streets and businesses as efficiently as possible. Getting to do that with digital Lego bricks and minifigs sounds like a dream come true. No release date was given for Lego Skylines, which is a spin-off of the Cities: Skylines city-builder franchise. But I’ll be there on day one to play it and lose days of my life building Lego cities. Heck, it will be a lot cheaper than buying thousands of Lego bricks to make a big tabletop city in real life. And I won’t have to give up my basement either.
