We’re legitimately looking at consoles that cost over $1,000 in a couple of years, and GPUs are also setting people back thousands. In fact, we’ve been told that things are about to get even more expensive, and a new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News (translated by Insider Gaming) has suggested that these price increases may be coming sooner rather than later for PC gamers. GPUs Are Going Up In Price Once Again Yes, despite only being a little over halfway through the year, Nvidia is reportedly set to increase the price of its graphics cards for the third time in 2026. According to the report, the exact price increase is not known just yet, but it is expected to be anywhere between 20 and 30 percent. It’s not only high-end GPUs that are going up in price either. While it’s often been the case that more expensive graphics cards are usually hit by price increases, this latest increase will reportedly hit every graphics card in the company’s lineup. While no increase has been officially announced by Nvidia just yet, this report claims that the company has been notifying manufacturers of the price increase ahead of time. It’s also stated that the increase will affect “both GDDR7 video memory and the previous generation GDDR6 video memory.” It’s yet another example of games getting more expensive. Coupled with the ever-increasing price of RAM, these price increases will most likely make high-end rigs completely unattainable for the vast majority of the gaming community. Even low-end rigs will cost a substantial amount, and I shudder to think what prices might be like in a couple of years' time. Hopefully, the AI bubble will burst, and we’ll see prices start to fall soon.
