Now Pune man finds live worm in pastry bought from PAUL outlet, shares video

The troubles of PAUL India seem to be mounting as a Pune resident has now shared a clip on social media, showing a live worm in a pastry he bought from the bakery. The post comes a day after another customer's similar experience at PAUL India's Gurugram outlet where he found a live worm inside a sandwich.Vinod Tilekar said he visited the Paul bakery at Pune's Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar a few months before and ordered a takeaway. "And found worm in it," he tweeted alongside a video of the pastry.However, there has been no response yet from PAUL India's Pune outlet regarding the customer's video.PAUL, a globally-renowned cafe and bakery chain, has been at the centre of severe backlash after the Gurugram customer's experience at its One Horizon Centre outlet. According to Sulabh Mathur, he visited there with some of his friends on August 21 for breakfast. The group ordered around seven dishes, including a sandwich. After finishing half of the food, Mathur claimed he noticed a live worm moving inside the bread. He recorded the incident, which showed everyone at the table shocked. Mathur later shared it on social media, tagging PAUL.Later, the food giant responded to the public criticism in a post on Instagram, stressing that PAUL India take food safety, hygiene and quality standards "extremely seriously". "The matter reported at our One Horizon, Gurugram outlet does not reflect the standards we strive to uphold. PAUL India maintains rigorous food safety, hygiene and compliance standards. We remain committed to upholding the highest standards and ensuring the best possible experience for all our customers," it added.However, the statement angered people even more due to the lack of accountability and an apology.Established in Croix in northern France in 1889, PAUL's presence spans across more than 45 countries in the world. It specialises in European dishes, especially French classics such as savoury crepes, tarts, pastries and croque monsieur.
