Don't expect to visit Vice City anytime soon Grand Theft Auto 6Image: Rockstar Games Sign in to your Polygon.com account The release of Grand Theft Auto 6, possibly the most highly anticipated game in over a decade, is just over a month away. Gamers are eager to jump into Rockstar's latest open-world adventure on Nov. 19 — that is, if they own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. PC players, as is the studio's tradition, won't see the game for a while, if ever. But what about Nintendo Switch 2 owners? Some hoped the console would prove powerful enough for a Grand Theft Auto 6 release, but that may not be in the cards anytime soon. Nintendo of America boss Devon Pritchard recently discussed the potential of the Switch 2 with Variety, stating that "we're just at the beginning of seeing what the Nintendo Switch 2 can do." Pritchard hopes that its improved graphical performance will allow for more third-party AAA releases and prove that the console is not just for kids and families, but can "provide a diversity in terms of the types of experiences that you can have on the system." One example is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will be released on the console later this year, bringing the franchise to Nintendo consoles for the first time in over a decade. Pritchard didn't make any promises to Grand Theft Auto 6 fans, saying, "That's going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time." Nintendo of America boss talks Zelda's 40th anniversary celebrations Image: Nintendo This year also marks the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise, which Nintendo is planning on celebrating in a big way. A live-action movie is scheduled for release on April 30, 2027. Nintendo is releasing a remake of Ocarina of Time later this year. Nintendo also used a Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct to announce plans for a very limited concert series. Pritchard said she hopes that the various releases and events tied to the celebration will bring in newcomers as well as devoted fans. Whatever else Nintendo has planned for Zelda and its other hit properties, Pritchard notes that "anything we’re going to do is going to be deliberate and thoughtful.”
