Nicolas Cage becomes a silver fox as he debuts drastic new look

The Oscar-winning actor, 62, has sported a range of styles over the years, from his thick, unkempt mop in the 80s to his long, flowing tresses of the 90s and the balding ginger wig he wore in 2002 comedy-drama Adaptation. He even rocked a fiery cherry-red do at one point, having undergone a dramatic dye job in 2022, much to the shock of fans. Cage’s natural hair is dark brown, which he’s been known to colour in recent years after he started going grey. However, it appears he’s now embracing the silver fox look, as he arrived at an event with his wife, Riko Shibata, this weekend, proudly showcasing his fully grey head of hair and beard. Posing alongside Shibata, 31, whom he wed in 2021, the movie star looked dapper in a blue tuxedo jacket with satin lapels, a white, slightly unbuttoned shirt, and black trousers, accessorised with a celebrity staple – stylish sunglasses. She wore an all-cream ensemble, featuring a coat with sheer sleeves, and wore her raven hair in a sleek and straight style. The Hollywood couple attended the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Opening Night in Los Angeles, celebrating George Lucas’s 11-acre campus launching with galleries, theatres, and restaurants. With Lewis Hamilton co-chairing, girlfriend Kim Kardashian joined him, while other big names on the guest list included Oprah Winfrey and Katy Perry. Cage met Shibata in 2019, connecting through mutual friends in Japan while he filmed Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021). She also had a small role in the film as a ‘mannequin woman’. Speaking previously about their instant connection, Cage revealed he knew a romance ‘could work out’ upon learning what pets she had. He told Entertainment Tonight in 2021: ‘We met in Japan, and I thought she was stunning when I met her. We had a lot in common. The Oscar winner sported a full grey beard, too (Picture: Steve Granitz/FilmMagic) ‘She likes animals, too. So, I asked her, “Do you have any pets?” And she said, “Yes, I have flying squirrels.” She had two sugar gliders… I thought, “That’s it. This, this could work out”.’ Cage confirmed he had married Shibata in Las Vegas earlier that year, sharing with People: ‘It’s true, and we are very happy.’ The ceremony was held at the Wynn Hotel and was ‘very small and intimate’. It took place on February 16, a date specially chosen to honour Shibata’s late father’s birthday. Cage and Shibata make regular public appearances as a couple, which, in turn, has documented the Face/Off actor’s evolving appearance over time. For a long time, there’s been speculation that he’s had a hair transplant, as fans and experts alike believed his hair looked denser in his 50s than in his 40s. It’s also been reported that expensive custom lace-front wigs and hair pieces have been used on sets and for public outings to help manage advanced thinning and receding temples. For years, Cage has been at the centre of hair transplant rumours, which he’s never addressed (Picture: Michael Loccisano/Getty Images) He’s now ditched the brunette dye (Picture: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images) Cage himself, however, has never commented on the hair transplant rumours. One thing he has spoken about, though, is ageing and how his lifestyle has changed. Appearing on The New York Times’ podcast The Interview, Cage reflected: ‘It’s no secret that I have, over the years, particularly early on, perhaps, had a lack of impulse control and probably shouldn’t have bought that car or shouldn’t have bought that property or whatever it was. ‘I am extraordinarily boring right now. I live a very monastic life. I am not taking any risks whatsoever if I can avoid it.’ He added that he is ‘really going to go the other way’, as he’s now ‘all about’ raising his young daughter, August, whom he and Shibata welcomed in September 2022, ‘to have a happy and healthy life’. Cage also has adult children Kal-El and Weston from previous relationships.
