EXCLUSIVE: Halloween season may have come to an end but Sony Pictures isn’t done adding to its already stacked cast for another spooky feature as sources tell Deadline Nicholas Galitzine is in final negotiations to play Ichabod Crane in Hollow opposite Sydney Sweeney. The film also stars Belmont Cameli and is based on filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer’s forthcoming debut novel. Sony had no comment. Beer is also attached to direct as well as adapt her novel, which will be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in fall 2027. The novel sold to Putnam in a highly competitive situation and will be globally translated at launch. Beer and her Lab Brew banner are producing as well as Sweeney, who will produce through her new Honey Trap banner as well as LuckyChap. Hollow is Honey Trap’s first film as producer. The newly launched company, which has Kaylee McGregor serving as President of Production and Development, recently announced a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Watch on Deadline The novel is a reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, told through the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel, played by Sweeney. Reframing one of literature’s most iconic heroines, the novel positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize but as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle. The story blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary, high-concept reinvention of the classic tale. While Van Tassel is the star of this story, Crane is a beloved character that was famously played by Johnny Depp in the Tim Burton adaptation of Sleepy Hollow. Galitzine now gets his shot to give a new spin to the classic character in a role that had a long list of actors chasing the part before he ultimately landed it. Following his breakout role in the Amazon pic Red, White and Royal Blue, Galitzine has been one of the busiest and more sought-after rising stars in town. He followed that up with the The Idea of You, where he starred opposite Anne Hathaway, earning rave reviews. This year has been especially busy with him starring as He-Man in Amazon MGM Studios’ The Master of the Universe. He also recently starred in the Netflix war drama The Mosquito Bowl. He is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Curtis Brown Group.
