Newsstand: Michigan AD job will ‘draw incredible interest’

Tweets Of The Day Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel will step down at the end of the year, the school announced Monday. President Domenico Grasso will begin a search for Manuel’s replacement, he said in a video on Monday. Yahoo! Sports reporter Ross Dellenger said Monday that he’s hearing there will be strong interest from other administrators in the job. “Grasso mentioned that he’ll run a national search, and I can tell you already that my phone is abuzz with administrators who are, in no surprise, very interested in this position. It will be a very sought after job,” Dellenger said on Big Ten Network. “Michigan is obviously a huge brand in college athletics at a time when the biggest brands have probably some of their most advantage that we’ve seen in college sports with NIL and athlete compensation. This is a huge job that will draw incredible interest. “Actually, no. If you do look in the history of Michigan, you’re right. They have a history of hiring their own people — people that have either coached, played or graduated from Michigan. You can go all the way back like 30, 40 years. But maybe it’s time for sort of new blood, you might say, given all the scandals and situations going on.
