Gerard’s superb performance at the Tour Championship hoisted him to a career high of 22nd in the world rankings. He is clearly one of the most improved players in the game. Hojgaard was edged into second by fellow countryman Jeff Winther, and also filled the same position in this event last year behind Thriston Lawrence. Hojgaard was also a close fourth in the Rocket Classic a few weeks ago. So he seems to be finishing the season strong, while many of his rivals are starting to look a bit jaded. At 20-1, Rasmus looks a good bet – but as always, make sure you on the right Hojgaard. Twin brother Nicolai is also strongly fancied, at a best priced 22-1. But after a promising start to the year he has not managed a top ten finish in the past few months. So Rasmus it is. Matt Wallace, a former winner of this event, is the bookies second favourite, at 14-1. That also looks a bit skinny – but fellow Englishman Marco Penge is another 20-1 shot worth following. He looked the likely winner of the British Masters before fading into a share of sixth on the marathon final day. But his health issues have clearly eased, and on the bets his 2025 form, his odds are pretty generous. English players have a good record in the Alps. And Sam Bairstow’s last three performances – which include a top ten at the Nexo – suggest he is a sporting each way chance at 110-1. And yet another English golfer, Dan Bradury, played some good golf before missing the cut by a shot at the Belfry. He is another outsider worth considering at 125-1.
