Ariel Ehrlich, the son of the New York Times journalist in a bitter war with billionaire Amy Griffin, shared his thoughts on being “embroiled in a conflict that is not of [his] own creation” on Tuesday. The University of Southern California student released a Substack entitled “The Billionaire, The Nepo Baby and The Collateral Damage: Amy Griffin and the perils of being a reporter’s child.” In his essay, Ehrlich reacted to Semafor’s Sunday report that Griffin, 49, claimed at Ari Emanuel’s annual Aspen retreat in September 2025 that she intended to make reporter Katherine Rosman’s son’s life “miserable.” New York Times reporter Katherine Rosman’s son (pictured above in June) released a Substack about being at the center of his mom and billionaire Amy Griffin’s bitter war. Getty Images Rosman, notably, had published an article casting doubt on Griffin’s memoir, “The Tell,” which came out in March 2025 and documented the venture capitalist allegedly recovering memories of a childhood sexual assault via MDMA therapy. Griffin has since been sued by a classmate accusing her of stealing the story — which the author has denied in her defamation countersuit in June. Ehrlich wrote Tuesday that while he is “an attention seeker” and is “usually happy to be anyone’s (alleged) focus,” he was “not loving it … in this case.” He referred to reporting that Griffin allegedly attempted to ensure his 17-year-old sister Eleanor Ehrlich’s rejection from a university “even more concerning.” His mother (pictured above in April 2019) wrote a critical piece on Griffin in September 2025. Ariel wrote, “It pains me deeply that anyone might try to hurt her just because we have the best mother in the world who also happens to be a grade-A reporter.” However, he made it clear that “Mrs. Griffin, through a spokesperson, categorically denied the allegations” on Monday — and he has “received zero evidence that Mrs. Griffin has actively done anything to try to harm” him. On Monday, the writer’s rep denied to Page Six that Griffin had contacted anyone at a school about Rosman’s children, claiming her remarks were “taken out of context and mischaracterized as a threat she never made.” Ariel extended his support to Griffin’s four children with husband John Griffin, noting that they also “are well during this difficult time.” He wrote, “To my nepo brothers and sisters across the globe whose parentage benefits them but not always: I see you. I support you. And now and forever, I stand with you.” Ariel (pictured above in 2014) quipped that he is usually an “attention seeker” but is not “loving it” in this case. Ariel Ehrlich/ instagram He shared his “concern” for Griffin allegedly trying to get Eleanor rejected from a university, which the writer’s rep denied to Page Six on Monday. Ariel Ehrlich/ instagram Ariel clarified, “Yes, there have been moments where my mother’s work has interfered with my life in ways that I wish it didn’t. But nobody is more hard-working and thorough, and empathetic and I wouldn’t trade my nepotism-creating mother for the world.” He insisted, “I don’t really mind if someone allegedly wants to destroy my life. To quote the musical visionary Bhad Bhabie, ‘Catch me outside.'” He shared his decision to “block” a friend he confided in about Griffin, whom he believes “redistributed” his “heated” — and private — messages to her regarding the scandal. As for Eleanor’s reaction to the drama, Ariel claimed she cheekily quipped, “Hey, at least I have some new material for my [college application] supplementals!” Griffin’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. He sent well-wishes to Griffin’s four children and his “nepo brothers and sisters across the globe.” (Pictured above: Griffin on Aug. 25.) Getty Images He noted that he wouldn’t “trade” Rosman (pictured above in March 2017) as his mom despite the drama. Griffin Lipson/BFA / Shutterstock Last week, Billy Bush accused Griffin of “threaten[ing] to bankrupt” him over his coverage of her legal battle. The “Hot Mics” host, 55, told podcast listeners on Oct. 19 about Griffin allegedly confronting him at Jennifer Meyer’s Oct. 10 wedding — and approaching his girlfriend as well. Page Six subsequently heard that the headlines surrounding Griffin have made New York’s social elite and Hollywood A-listers wish to “distance themselves from her,” while others remain staunchly in her corner.
