Mystery deepens in Putney Pusher case as cops yet to charge anyone 9 yrs on – as suspect released ‘under investigation’

A MILLIONAIRE banker who was arrested during the Putney Pusher probe has been released under investigation. The man, 44, was arrested nine years after a mysterious jogger shoved a woman into the path of the bus on Putney Bridge, London, in 2017 which prompted a major manhunt. As cops continued working on enquiries, the man, who is believed to be descended from royalty, was released on bail in June. In an update announced today, the banker has now been released under investigation while detectives continue to work on the mysterious case. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, June 15, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. “The arrest relates to an incident on May 5, 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in Putney. “Once in police custody, he was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs. Most read in The Sun “He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.” Detectives have interviewed 50 men and arrested three suspects since the wake of the incident on Putney Bridge. No suspect has been charged in the case, which has become one of Britain’s most famous unsolved mysteries. The country was shocked when chilling CCTV footage showed the mysterious jogger shove his victim, a total stranger, into oncoming traffic. The 33-year-old woman was launched into a busy lane on Putney Bridge at around 7.40am on May 5, 2017. She narrowly avoided death when, fortunately, hero bus driver Olivier Salbris managed to swerve within seconds of hitting her. The quick-thinking manoeuvre meant the driver brought the number 430 bus to a stop just inches from her head as she lay on the ground. Astonishingly, the grey-shirted assailant then returned to the chaotic scene – running in the opposite direction – about 15 minutes after pushing his victim. The callous jogger then seemingly vanished into thin air after heading into Fulham, South West London. Metropolitan Police launched an appeal and trawled hundreds of hours of CCTV following the attack, but yielded nothing in the years following the incident. After the investigation was closed in 2018, fresh information led to the arrest of the banker – allegedly a decorated British Army officer with connection with Europe’s royal families, including the House of Windsor.
