My favourite teeth whitening powder has been slashed by 30% – I got a whiter smile for 12p a brush

ACHIEVING a brighter smile is always near the top of my beauty to-do list. If you’ve looked into teeth whitening before, though, you’ll know it can be a minefield, full of eye-watering prices and claims that don’t really hold up. The pot is ideal for travel. Five years after its launch, the powder is as popular as ever, with more than 7,500 Trustpilot reviews and a customer base that the brand claims has surpassed one million. Plenty of reviewers call it ‘amazing’, so I wanted to give it my own stamp of approval by trying it for a month, using it three times a week. What we loved: The genuine results, the fact that it represents good value over time, its peroxide-free and enamel-safe formula and the choice of flavours. What we didn’t love: The application can be messy. MySweetSmile says 65% of its trial participants noticed visible results within two weeks. While I was sceptical at first, I saw them too. It’s peroxide-free and non-abrasive, which matters if you’re worried about sensitivity or thinning enamel. As a result, it’s marketed as being safe for people over 40 and for those with caps, crowns, veneers or bonding. In fact, MySweetSmile’s research indicates that more than 70% of its new customers are aged 45 or over. The one downside was the faff of dipping my toothbrush into the pot and getting a decent amount of powder onto the bristles. It’s surprisingly fiddly and a little messy, meaning that, if you’re not careful, the pot might not last the full six months. The faff is all worth it, though, as my teeth became noticeably brighter, and I experienced no sensitivity or enamel issues after working the powder into my routine. I saw results after two weeks of using it three times a week, meaning I achieved a brighter smile for less than £1. Despite the fiddly and messy application, the results are more than worth it. I get compliments on my smile, and I haven’t had to give up my beloved coffee to maintain the results.
