Music legend’s 18th-century country hotel rocked by one-star food hygiene rating leaving bosses ‘very upset’

It also has the well-regarded Priory restaurant, can hold ­weddings for up to 150 guests and scores 4.5 stars out of five on TripAdvisor. But bosses were left “very upset” by a scathing one-star Food Standards Agency rating. An inspection last month found food safety management required “major improvement”. The hotel’s general manager Alison Gaskell said: “I was, of course, initially very upset after the initial inspection. “To clarify, the house dates back to the 18th century and is a listed building. “This can make planning essential works trickier as we have to be mindful of the internal structure.
