See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 15:26 EDT, 1 September 2026 | Updated: 16:20 EDT, 1 September 2026 A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a mother died following an alleged e-bike hit-and-run.Joanne Doyle, 57, died in hospital days after being hit by the bike while on a zebra crossing on Mount Vernon Street, Liverpool, at around 3.35pm on July 7.Kieran Sewards, 31, was arrested and charged and has since pleaded not guilty to one count of manslaughter and another of section 20 wounding.Ms Doyle's family called her 'loving, kind and amazing' in a tribute released by Merseyside Police.They said she was a 'kind-hearted, generous soul who always put others before herself,' adding: 'She was tragically and suddenly taken from us far too soon and will be missed forever.'Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, lead investigating officer from Merseyside Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: 'My thoughts remain with Joanne's family, who continue to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers. Joanne Doyle died on July 18 after suffering injuries when she was hit by an e-bike 11 days prior'Her death has caused her loved ones the worst pain imaginable and we are determined to get the answers they deserve.'Our investigation has led to a man being charged with manslaughter. As criminal proceedings are now active, it would be inappropriate to comment further on the facts of this case.'Sewards appeared before Liverpool Crown Court today via video link charged with Manslaughter and Section 20 Wounding.'He entered not guilty pleas to both charges and was further remanded into custody.'Sewards's trial is to begin on February 8, 2027.
