Morrisons signed a long-term partnership with retail technology firm Everseen following a successful trial earlier this year. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Using real-time computer vision, the system identifies items that may not have been scanned correctly and prompts customers to resolve the issue themselves via the checkout screen. According to the retailer, the technology will help to keep queues moving and reduce the need for staff intervention. This will allow Morrisons employees to focus more time on customer service and keep queues moving at staffed checkouts too. Up to 200 stores across the UK will be included in the initial technology rollout. Morrisons store support office director Francesca Bezoari said the new system “enables us to provide the fast and seamless checkout experience our customers want”. She explained that this can now be achieved “while simultaneously equipping our colleagues to maintain the exceptional service that Morrisons is known for”.
