MJ Lenderman Shares New Neil Young Cover, Harry Crews Book Foreword

Last month, MJ Lenderman debuted a bunch of new songs at Good Moon Festival, giving us hope for a Manning Fireworks followup. There's no news on that front (yet), but the Asheville singer-songwriter is back today with a new Neil Young cover and foreword for the Penguin Classics edition of Harry Crews' 1990 novel Body. Two new volumes of the Neil Young tribute series Heart Of Gold are out today: Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 2 - Out Of The Blue and Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 3 - Into The Black. Lenderman's rendition of "Separate Ways" — from Young's 2020 LP Homegrown — can be found on the third volume. He's done it live before, along with other Young songs like "Lotta Love" and "Powderfinger."Meanwhile, the Penguin Classics edition of Crews' Body arrives next week, but The Paris Review published Lenderman's foreword online today. Read it here, and hear the "Separate Ways" cover below alongside the original.
