Metrowater to finish installing flow meters to track water distribution and curb loss in two months

The project is aimed at measuring water quantity distributed and assessing non-revenue water.Of the 456 flow meters proposed to be installed, nearly 372 flow meters were fixed at various places, including lines conveying water to distribution stations and at the receiving point of water distribution stations.Metrowater Managing Director T. Anand inspected the operation of flow meters installed at various points in ward 157 at Manapakkam and Ramakrishna Nagar water distribution station in Valasaravakkam.A press release said once the ₹44.93-crore bulk metering project is completed, the water agency would be able to identify water losses precisely, track water consumption, and monitor drawing of water and distribution in real time. It would ensure that all areas receive equitable water supply.Installation of water meters was mandatory for new water connections.
