Meet the New Vuori Collection That Will Become Your Go-To Weekend Wear

5 min readI GOT VUORI'S Sunday Performance Jogger in the mail over seven years ago, and since then it has become one of my weekend warrior staples. The premium fabrics. The comfortable feel. The secure pockets for my possessions. The durability. The colorways. Everything was completely locked in.Being someone who is very particular about the kind of clothes that I wear and train in, I'm the kind of guy who will buy a dozen of the same piece in different colors so I can get away with wearing it as often as possible. Because my feelings on fashion mimic my feelings in training, you don't mess with what works.As someone who tests and reviews gear for his job, I have the privilege of being exposed to brands early on. And it’s pretty clear to me when a brand understands its customers. Vuori is one of those brands led by its founder, Joe Kudla, whom I had the privilege of profiling for Men's Health last year.So when I was told that the Vuori team was working on a new release that it knew I would like, I was all ears. And man, that wasn’t wrong. The new Sunday Collection takes the Sunday Performance Jogger that I and many others have adopted as part of our uniforms and builds a full product line around it.SHOP THE SUNDAY COLLECTIONIn order to make sure the world is aware of this new collection, or at least the estimated 400 million–plus American football fans out there, they have also unveiled a new campaign, "It Starts and Ends With Sunday," which features Vuori partners Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff, Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland, and Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton.Kudla explains the concept for the "It Starts and Ends With Sunday" campaign as a look at the rituals, routines, and transitions that define an athlete's life outside of competition. Not the game itself, but the quiet moments that occur before and after—the drive to the field, the offseason workouts, the meals eaten with family. "These are just as important as the competition itself," he explains. "This collection was designed to support every part of that journey to greatness."I am a big fan of the players who have aligned with Vuori for this campaign, and Kudla, but I wasn't going to simply go off of their word when it came to this new collection. I was sent a few of the major pieces early, and I have been testing it for the past month in a variety of training scenarios, family activities, and early-morning errands.First Impressions of the Sunday CollectionOne of the first things you notice about the Sunday Collection is its weight; it's perfect. Not so heavy that it feels like a hindrance during any movement. And not so light that you feel like you are going to tear through it. These pieces seriously contrast the ultralight Breathe Collection, another recent Vuori release that I've been testing, which came out with a campaign that featured Colston Loveland and was designed to feel ultralight on the skin.The Sunday Collection has been a perfect wear for the more recently cool summer mornings and nights in New York, and I anticipate it will be a major player in my fall wardrobe. The look of the whole assortment brings that stylishly subtle aesthetic that we have come to expect from Vuori. As in other collections, Vuori's inconspicuous V logo is the only branding you can expect, letting you own your appearance and not forcing you to be a walking advertisement.I don't always comment on colorways, but when I opened the box with a variety of hoodies, shorts, and joggers, I was pleased to see that they have stuck with what works. Foundational colors that you expect, like blacks and tans, as well as a few new standouts like Bay Blue, Fig, Frost Grey, and Ink Heather.Jason Speakman For MHIn the MH gym, rocking the Sunday Track Jacket, Strato Tee, and Sunday Performance Joggers.Wearing the Sunday CollectionThis collection is comprised of a lot of Vuori's greatest hits, so it isn't too much of a surprise that most of these wears are elite. While these pieces were also designed to perform in training environments, each piece is equally suited for lounging. The first piece that I wore for any significant time was the Sunday Hoodie 2.0, which happens to be Jared Goff’s favorite, as I would find out later in a conversation with the athlete.I was pleased to find that when it comes to the hoodies, the fit follows the standard set by the Sunday Performance Jogger, in the way that the cut is both roomy and tapered in all of the right places. I experienced full range of motion in them, and they didn’t hold me back when I hopped into a few games of basketball or threw the football around in the park.Whether I paired the hoodie with the sweat shorts or the joggers, the result was a luxuriously soft outfit that I could rock all day long. They didn't skimp on the performance technology that they've developed with their workout clothes either, which means bringing moisture-wicking fabric and four-way stretch to the equation.I wear a size medium top and bottom in Vuori, and when I'm taking it easy, there isn't too much need for the drawstrings. The shorts and pants feature thoughtful cinching though, so when I decided to go on a light jog or hit the courts to shoot some basketball, there was plenty of lockdown.The Sunday Performance Short 8” brings what I love about the joggers into a new realm. The eight-inch inseam means you are protected and covered while giving you that full freedom of movement. For anyone average height or above, they are a perfect length for that leisure time.There is also a wide-leg performance jogger, which I tried on during an easy Sunday morning, and was extremely comfortable to wear. But as I said at the beginning, the Sunday Performance Jogger is already a staple in my rotation, and I've never been much of a wide-leg proponent. For either option, there are zippered pockets for your valuables, which I have found useful when I want to secure my things during runs.Jason Speakman For MHThe joggers feature a zippered pocket on your leg for valuables.Final Thoughts on the Sunday CollectionIn my past month of wearing these clothes in a variety of use cases, I have been continuously impressed and satisfied with their performance. And I’ve received a few compliments along the way, usually when someone happens to feel the fabric.The Sunday Hoodie 2.0 and the Sunday Element Track Jacket, along with the Sunday Performance Short 8”, are all items that will stay in the permanent rotation. Other pieces are solid, like the Sunday Element Jacket, which is like a combination of the two outerwear pieces I previously mentioned.Of course, there are certain scenarios that these clothes aren’t fit for, like more intense workouts or on a hot day on the track.
