Mass Effect 3’s criminally underrated multiplayer mode has been restored and added to the Legendary Edition as a special N7 Day treat from a skilled group of fans. Today, November 7, should be a very special occasion for Mass Effect fans. Back when the series was alive and thriving, BioWare coined N7 Day as a time to celebrate the series and share updates about its future. Of course, with BioWare and the next big game in the series, Universe, recently being shut down by EA, the atmosphere is a little dire. As the leaked trailer for Universe and all of the new merchandise have kept proving, BioWare had some big plans in store for this year’s N7 Day. Even though the future of Mass Effect is a complete unknown and everyone is still in mourning, fans have come together to try and give the series a worthy send-off, which an impressive modding project has certainly done. Mass Effect Modding Team Has Added Multiplayer To Legendary Edition After 5 Years, The Remaster Is Finally Complete As pointed out by ResetEra user Lord Vatek, renowned Mass Effect modding group ME3Tweaks decided to cheer us all up on this rather depressing N7 Day by releasing Legendary Edition Multiplayer. The mod, which is currently live on Nexus Mods, is a “full game conversion” that adds Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode to the remaster. Although Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer was a little divisive at launch, it’s gone on to be a bit of a cult classic for fans and was considered a notable omission from the Legendary Edition. It’s something that’s still talked about to this day, making its comeback more than five years later a pretty big deal. Especially considering it’s N7 Day. The mod doesn’t just recreate the original multiplayer, though, as ME3Tweaks actually built on it in some pretty big ways. Heavy weapons like the Reaper Blackstar and Cain are now available, as are an overhauled photo mode, configurable aim assist, and improved FOV settings. New banners, accessibility options, and improved textures round everything out as an impressive expansion of the original mode. As if all of that isn’t enough, ME3Tweaks aims to add matchmaking server statistics, a proper multiplayer store, and a total rework of the challenges screen. There are already plenty of impressive Mass Effect mods out there, including some of this modding team’s previous work, but Legendary Edition Multiplayer has to be up there as one of the best. It’s a damn good way of showing just how passionate the Mass Effect community is, even as the series gets put through hell and back.
