Manhunt for driver after child knocked down in hit & run while crossing the road before being helped by passerby

Clayton Lane in Newcastle COPS have launched a manhunt for a driver after a child was knocked down in a hit and run while crossing the road. The horror unfolded in Clayton, Staffordshire, at around 3.20pm on Friday close to a nearby school. Cops say a “small black car” collided with the child – whose age is unknown – while they were crossing the road. The youngster was raced to hospital with head and leg injuries with his condition currently unknown. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! A member of the public stopped to assist who officers believe wasn’t involved in the collision. The car is then believed to have fled in the direction of the M6 motorway. A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We are appealing for information after a non-stop collision where a child was injured. “The collision happened on Clayton Road. A small black car collided with a child who was crossing the road. “A member of the public stopped to assist but we do not believe they were involved in the collision. “The small black car drove off towards Newcastle Road, in the direction of the motorway.
