Man jailed for theft from unlocked vehicle

A Parish Land, Christ Church man has been sentenced to six months in prison after admitting to stealing more than $2 000 from an unlocked vehicle. Jamario Akeem Warren, 34, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court No. 1 and pleaded guilty to stealing $2 208.64 belonging to Jenna Daniel on July 31. Prosecutor acting Sergeant Reginald Blackman told the court that on the previous day, Daniel parked her vehicle next to her home, leaving it unlocked with the money inside a bag in the door compartment. The following day, while driving, she stopped to make a purchase and realised the bag was missing. She contacted her son, who checked security cameras and saw the accused entering the vehicle around 2.40 a.m. The incident was reported to police. When arrested, Warren, who has nine previous convictions, admitted entering the car and stealing the money. Police recovered $300, a bag, two pairs of beach pants, two shirts, a skirt and a pair of socks. (JB) You Might Be Interested In
