Man charged with manslaughter after man bitten by dog dies

A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a man who was bitten by a dog on a footpath in West Yorkshire.A 55-year-old man was left critically injured in an altercation on a disused railway line off Blacker Lane in Calder Grove, Wakefield, at about 13:30 BST on Saturday and died in hospital at about 19:00 the same day, according to police.Lee Ellis, 55, of Blacker Lane, had since been charged with manslaughter and being the owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.Ellis had been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court later, they said.A German Shepherd dog, understood to have been involved in the incident, had been seized by police officers and remained in police kennels, the spokesperson added.
