Officers arrived at Queens Park in Warrington, Cheshire, to find the pair naked from the waist down with their privates exposed. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! McKay hurriedly pulled her trousers up when the police approached. When quizzed, the couple promised they would ”not be doing it again” and claimed it was so dark they didn’t realise they would be seen. McKay and Murray, who are understood to have since split up, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency. They were fined £320 with £213 in costs and a surcharge. Warrington Magistrates’ Court was told the romp took place on July 26 at 11pm after the pair had been out for the evening. Teri O’Brien, prosecuting, said: “Police were made aware of a report of a male and female seen to be having sex in Queens Park. On arrival the defendant Miss McKay was present with the other defendant Mr Murray on a bench. “PC Rimmer and PC Ballantyne approached the defendants. Miss McKay was exposing her genitals. As the officers approached she pulled her trousers up.” Defence solicitor Mark Lever suggested in mitigation that as it was dark, the couple may have assumed no one would see them. He added: “It was late for that area. They are both very sorry. They apologise to the court for their behaviour. I am sure they won’t do something like this again.” Sentencing the pair, JP Dr Gwyneth Edwards said: “You have pleaded guilty to this offence – but you could hardly not. “It was a very reckless act and it was in public.”
