A MAJOR high street chain with hundreds of UK branches has launched a major closing down sale across two sites as it prepares to shutter them for good. Clearance sale signs have been spotted in Poundland sites in both Cosham and Bridgewater. Meanwhile, around 86miles away in Cosham the discount store has also revealed plans to shut another branch. An official date has not yet been confirmed it is expected to close in mid-August, Portsmouth News reported. Again, a major “everything must go” sale has been kick-started, giving locals a chance to score big deals on products. The discount retailer has already shut more than 100 locations since June 2025. Poundland narrowly avoided going into administration last summer after approving a last-minute rescue plan from US investors Gordon Brothers. Most read in Money Bosses said at the start of the year the closure programme had now ended, with any further shutdowns only happening as a result of normal lease expiries.
