Lenovo's rollable laptop and colorful IdeaPads signal a shift beyond the office

Lenovo is best known as the workhorse of the work world, but at IFA it’s going beyond its business reputation with colorful, creativity-focused devices and concepts like a rollable laptop. And, yes, it’s also showing reliable products for the desktop. Getting down to business Starting with the desktop, Lenovo is advancing Hybrid AI for enterprise computing. The latest additions to its lineup are the ThinkCentre X Ultra desktop built for multi-agent workloads, the Snapdragon-powered ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 with Copilot+ experiences, and the ultra-lightweight ThinkBook 14x Gen 2. There are also futuristic concepts like the fanless, AirJet-cooled Project AeroBlade and the expandable Project Swan. The ThinkCentre X Ultra is a line of desktops that Lenovo says is built for the agentic AI era. It’s Powered by up to AMD RyzenTM AI Max+ PRO 495 Series processors and supports up to 128GB of unified memory. Its power is meant for running large AI models, as well as supporting long context windows and multi-agent workflows. The ThinkCentre X Ultra will be available in November, with an expected starting price of $3,699. Two other additions to the ThinkCentre line are the ThinkCentre M75s Gen 6 and the ThinkCentre M75q Gen 6, which can fit inside a desk drawer but also power up to four displays. The ThinkCentre M75q Gen 6 will be available this month, with an expected starting price of $1,379; and the ThinkCentre M75s Gen 6 in October, with an expected starting price of $1,489. The latest ThinkBooks ThinkBook portfolio bring together on-device AI, Lenovo Qira, and Copilot+. The ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 has up to 26 hours of battery life, while the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 is one of the thinnest and lightest ThinkBooks yet and it comes in Luna Grey, Celestial White, Mystic Violet, and Veil Blue. The ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 will be available in October, with an expected starting price of $1,299, and the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 will be available in the first quarter of 2027, with an expected starting price of $999.99 For the creatives “Great ideas don’t always happen at a desk, and they don’t always begin with a keyboard,” Johnson Jia, senior vice president of the Global Innovation Center in the Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group in the announcement for the latest Yoga line of tablets. The Yoga series is geared toward creatives, letting them go beyond the keyboard to bring their ideas to life onscreen with “pen, voice, vision, and touch.” The latest lineup includes four devices: the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9n (in 11-inch and 15-inch versions), a premium laptop with NVIDIA RTX Spark meant to handle AI content creation and RTX gaming; the Lenovo Yoga 9n 2-in-1 (in 11-inch and 16-inch versions), a convertible with a 360-degree design and dual-surface pen input; the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 and Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2, which handle sketching, note-taking, productivity, and entertainment. There’s not yet pricing or a launch date for the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9n. The Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available this month, with an expected starting price of $999.99. IdeaPads that are a vibe Colorful, inexpensive laptops are a sign of the times ever since the MacBook Neo, and the IdeaPad Vibe is on trend. The IdeaPad Vibe is light, at 2.9 pounds, and has “all-day” battery life. It comes in seven colors developed with Pantone: Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue, and Lowkey Grey. The Qualcomm-powered 14- and 15-inch IdeaPad Vibe is available starting in November 2026, with an expected starting price of $699.99. Out there ideas Lenovo showed two proof-of concepts at IFA that were indeed a bit unexpected. First up is the very futuristically named Project AeroBlade. It’s a fanless 14-inch, 10 mm thick laptop that and weighs under 830g. Lenovo said it uses an Active Flow thermal solution that it developed in collaboration with Frore Systems. The laptop is aimed at mobile workers who want to use AI but do not want to disturb those around them in coffee shops with the sounds of fans churning. The more poetic-sounding Project Swan is a transformative 14-inch laptop that can roll out a 17-inch 16:9 display for multitasking, side-by-side document review, presentations, dashboards, and creative workflows.
