A Pune founder was left fearing the worst after discovering that his entire team had a WhatsApp group he knew nothing about. While the discovery initially made him fear that the group was created against him, he soon realised that it was actually a sign that his team had become independent.Saksham Gaur, founder of Metro Media House, shared the story in a post on LinkedIn where he said he found out about the group just a day after posting a video about how his team was better than him.His immediate reaction was to panic as he imagined the worst after learning about a “secret group” involving his employees.However, when he saw the group’s name - “MMH X SAKSHAM” - he realised he was not the subject of a complaint group. “I am now my own company’s client. Turns out, it’s not a group against me. It’s a group that runs without me,” he said.Saksham explained that the group allowed his team to discuss work that would otherwise require his involvement. The employees first discuss what has been completed, what is pending and what needs to be solved before filtering the issues that actually require Saksham’s attention. “If something doesn’t really need me, they just handle it. Among themselves,” he said.The arrangement also explained why Saksham would often receive the same response when he asked for updates: “Nothing, Saksham. All taken care of.”While his first reaction was “mock betrayal,” he eventually understood that this was exactly how a well-functioning team should operate.“Your job as a founder isn’t to manage everything forever,” he said, adding that founders should hire people capable of handling smaller responsibilities independently so they can focus on scaling the business.“So yes, my team has a group chat that runs without me. And instead of being upset, I’m going to say: This is the whole point.
