One transgender Hollywood actor does not appear to have any roles lined up despite success in major movies, including The Odyssey.Elliot Page, whose acting career began as Ellen Page, played major roles, including Kitty Pryde in the X-Men franchise, and starred in movies including Inception, Juno, and Hard Candy before Page came out as transgender and underwent gender reassignment surgery.Page came out on social media as transgender in December 2020 and later became the first openly transgender man to be featured on the cover of Time magazine. Page continued an acting career, appearing in works such as The Umbrella Academy. The actor recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s production of The Odyssey, but this has not resulted in more role offers, Page said Tuesday on the podcast On Film … With Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy seemed surprised to learn that Page had not received an influx of calls following the release of The Odyssey.Page cracked a joke about how the lack of opportunities must be due to being Canadian, simultaneously alluding to it really being because Page is a biological female who identifies as a man.“I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now, so maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create connections and projects that way,” Page said. “But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now.
