The team was welcomed back to the capital city Madrid, where they were met by two million adoring fans. Yamal, 19, was one of the players on the open-top bus parade through the city. The sign was clearly referencing Paredes’ clash with Gavi on the pitch after Spain’s win was confirmed. The Argentina player’s behaviour at the end of the showpiece match was widely condemned by pundits. Micah Richards labelled it as “embarrassing” as he spoke on the BBC after the fighting had calmed down. He said: “Seeing that sort of stuff after the game was played, it’s not good, it’s embarrassing to be honest. “Paredes is better than that. During the fallout of Fernandez’s sending off, the full-back could be seen talking his former Barcelona team-mate. Cucurella put a couple of fingers in front of his mouth for a split second, which caused Messi to try and get him sent off. This could have been done due to Fifa’s rule over players covering their mouths during a confrontation.
