Lady Shri Ram College to resume regular classes from September 24

Lady Shri Ram College has said regular classes will be held offline on campus from September 24. (Representative Photo)Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), University of Delhi, has announced that classes will continue in regular offline mode from Thursday, September 24, 2026.In a notice dated September 23, the college said, “Classes shall continue in regular offline mode from tomorrow in the College premises, i.e Thursday, 24 September 2026.” The notice was issued by the college principal. WHY WERE THE CLASSES SHIFTED TO ONLINE MODEThe announcement comes a day after the college shifted classes online following the suspension of classes from noon on Tuesday, September 22. The move was taken after a police encounter with an accused in the Kalkaji gang-rape case took place near the college's back gate, around 50 metres from the campus.The administration had also advised students, teachers and staff members not to gather near the back gate. Guest faculty were asked to conduct their classes online on Wednesday. LSR Principal Ahuja had earlier told PTI that classes were cancelled after the administration learnt about the incident, stressing that the safety, security and well-being of students remained a priority. Faculty mentors and the college counsellor were also asked to remain available for students requiring support.The LSR Students' Union had called an emergency online General Body Meeting following the incident. The union said the proximity of the encounter to the college had left many students “shaken and unsafe”. It had said the meeting would allow students to raise concerns, share their experiences and discuss measures related to campus safety.
